Spring is here and the grass is growing!  It’s blue and beautiful. What a wonderful time to work outside! The lawn service is quite an easy business to get started and the money will soon be rolling in.

You most likely already have the skills all you’ll need to get started is a lawn mower, a weed eater, some pruning shears and a little bit of elbow grease!

Everyone with a lawn is a potential customer. You may do their yard once, or you may get a contract to do the lawn each and every week.

Keeping a lawn prim and proper is a lot of work and many people just don’t have the time, so they hire it out to someone else. That someone could easily be you.

This is easiest if you have a pick-up truck but if you don’t you can start with a car and work your way up to a pick up.

If you’re creative and can design an eye catching flyer and have a printer this is an easy service to get started with. Even if you don’t have a printer you can make use of the local print shop. Small businesses almost always hire this service out to a third party and most business owners are happy to help out a fellow small businessman. There is certainly no shortage of windows and if your willing to wash them there’s pleanty of money to be had.

You can start this business with almost no cost at all, or at least without spending too much money. All you’ll need to get started is a squeegee, some rags, a few sponges, a window scraper a bucket or two and some window cleaner, oh yes and if your not afraid of high spaces, you may want to have a ladder handy. You can make your own window cleaner as well, many people swear by using vinegar diluted with water. Other people say drop the rags and dry the windows with old newspaper.

Spring in an excellent time to get started in this business. You can offer your services to both business and homes alike.

Parking lot striping
Parking lots are constantly being abused, it’s like people walk all over them! The lines are always fading out and many need freshening up! The line striping business is yet another small business that’s easy to get started with. You can start small and work your way up. In fact I read an article about this a few months ago where a man who lost his job after many years, was looking for options and decided to take on a few jobs striping parking lots. He started on his own and had some family help. He eventually and apparently quite quickly grew this business into a million dollar venture taking on contracts such as wal-mart and other major chains.

Whats great about this business is how simple it is to start. You can make a line striping template out of a few two by fours fashioned together in the shape of a parking space line.

You can work your way up to a professional line striping machine. But,don’t need one to get started. All your need to get started is a two by four template, you could even use a roll out piece of plastic with strip cut out of it. You’ll need some industrial paint, you can look into this at the local hardware store. A few brushes and rollers and a go get’em spirit.

It’s easy to spot potential customers as they will all have faded parking lot strip in front of their business.

Each of these business are quite easy to start and have a relitivly low start up cost, each require you to go out there and sell some customers. If you’re willing to get out there, the sky is the limit. Some of the biggest business have started in the deepest recessions, some even during the great depression.
