Just about every commercial software product has a high quality Open Source or otherwise free commercial counter part and in many cases they are either just as good as the pricey version and sometimes even better. The only difference is the Open Source version is free and can save you money, lot’s of money.

Here’s some of my favorites.

AVG Anti-Virus offers superior protection at a price everyone can afford, free. AVG’s commercial counterparts Norton and Mcafee both come with a price, ranging from 20-60 dollars plus a subscription fee.

Uusually when writing a page of content, a quick story or text base report, we simply don’t need options to warp time and space to get it done.
