eBay is really quite an amazing place. It’s possible to sell things you may not have otherwise realized have value because they are inherently free. In some cases these items have real value.

When most people get an interest in selling on eBay they often do what everyone else is doing. They begin looking around the house, garage, attic, etc. Searching for items that may have some value. Other times they go to flea markets, garage sales, and resale shops in an effort to locate items that can be bought at a discount and can be sold for a profit. Others will attempt to locate a drop shipper or wholesaler with the intention of buying items at wholesale and sell them at retail.

All of these ideas work and can potentially provide a decent online income but I’m referring to something completely different.

Selling Free Stuff on eBay…
One category of items selling on eBay often goes completely unnoticed by the most. Sellers almost never look or even realize that these items are often big sellers and produce big profits on eBay.

Here’s a few examples and some detail about what you just might be able to incorporate. Basically a way to generate money our of thin air.

Let’s take a look at a few quick examples…

Coupons are an amazing business on eBay and quite profitable! In fact they are one of the best listed/sold ratio on eBay. I’ve seen everything from free soda coupons to discounts on dog food, baby formula, food products, makeup, and just about everything else under the sun.

Coupon come in a variety, of shapes, colors, sizes and values. There’s a coupon available for just about every product or service that can be imagined. I’m sure that you’ve come across a coupon today that would have been a great seller on eBay!

There are several people that sell coupons they find in the Sunday and Wednesday newspaper. They create an entire business just from that one source. I recommend that use as many sources as possible.

I’ve personally sold Lowe’s coupons, Subway coupons, Fashion bugs coupons and many more. I’ve made a profit on each one and received nice feedback as well. Coupons are a great item to add to your arsenal of eBay auction items!

What really gets me is when the bid amount surpasses the value of the coupon.

Let me show you an example (see the image below) “$20 dollars off any $100 dollar purchase” It’s from a national chain store. I picked it up over at the post office this afternoon. They have a bin and a table where everyone tosses the coupons and magazines they don’t want from their PO boxes. They don’t know the secret you now know. They are tossing out free money! Have you ever tossed away a coupon?

Free Cash! Sell one coupon a day and at the end of the month pay a bill or two. Sell five or six a day and make a car payment at the end of the month! Once you realize this is money you will start seeing coupons everywhere.

If you can’t see the auction in the background, it’s the same coupon as pictured selling on eBay. The Coupon received 3 bids and ended at $2.25 This coupon was free at the post office, it’s basically a piece of what many people refer to as “junk mail”.

When you see these coupons laying around the post office you are looking at carelessly tossed out free money. Everyones heard the term one man’s junk is another man’s treasure but did you know that applied to junk mail as well?

Next, a typical and pretty common Lowe’s coupon that comes in the mail (I’ve sold them). When it comes they are usually all around the post office. Most people just toss them away in that big bin full of junk mail or leave them on the table at the post office.

But the big question, did they sell? The answer, YES they sold over and over!

Thats 30 coupons for $60.00 dollars! That’s big money and that’s an entire business if you do it full time. Perhaps you could do what I do add it to your collection of income streams!

Let me just say that coupons are definitely not the hardest thing to come across. In fact generally speaking it’s much more difficult to avoid them than to get a hold of them.

When I checked out at the grocery store today I received five coupons along with my receipt. Those have value to someone if you don’t want them sell them.

There are many different ways to get coupons. You can pick them up in the local newspapers. Make sure to scour the entire paper not just the coupon section. Try the entertainment section for movie coupons. Many local newspapers offer coupons on both Sunday as well as an additional day generally Wednesday or Thursday.

Get on mailing lists. You can sign up on the Internet for mailing lists. Get on the major distributors mailing lists such as Johnson & Johnson, Proctor & Gamble, Purina , Lowe’s, Home Depot, Enfamil, etc. Get a few each time you go to the post office. I guarantee they are everywhere it’s basically free money! pick it up!

Domains don’t often sell for millions or even thousand like they did in the past but you can make small amounts from each transaction. Buy a domain for 8.00 and sell it for 30-40 dollars.  If you can do that over and over again you’ve got a profitable small business.

2. Websites
If you can build a website or blog that’s attractive to a potential customer they will sell on eBay. If you’ve seen websites selling on eBay for a dollar or two and wondered how in the world is anyone making any money on that transaction, then you should probably be let in on a little secret. The seller is most likely building a hosting company business where each site they sell comes with an obligation to retain their hosting service at a fee of 10.00 or so per month .Usually via Wild Wild West Domains or Host Gator.

3. eBooks
Sell ebooks on eBay for a profit. You can either resell eBooks that you’ve purchased that offer resell rights. Or (not recommended in most cases) you can create your own eBooks and sell them for a profit. It’s really easy and a decent way to bring in some extra money. The ebook I’m giving away right now “How to increase your odds when picking Mega Millions Lottery Numbers”  I use to sell it on eBay for a few dollars a pop.

4. Coupons
Offering coupons on eBay is an excellent stream of income. The coupon section of eBay is one of the most popular section, even though it’s not the most well know section. Those that know about it buy many coupons and do so at a premium. If you have access to coupons you can bring in some extra cash selling them on eBay.

5. Free items
Why free items? Because it lowers your overhead and it’s easy to get free items when you know what to look for. What I mean by free items are things that are available to you in your area for free but may not be available to others in their area. Coupons falls under free items but theres much more to it than that. An example of this would be aquarium tank decorations. Many people pay large amounts of money for aquarium decorations that only consist of drift wood attached to a piece of slate rock. Both drift wood and slate rock are free in many areas.

6. Website Advertisement Space
If you own a website you can sell ad space on eBay. The price varies from site to site and depends on the amount of traffic you receive.

7. Items from other websites such as Amazon or Overstock.
Every day millions of items are purchased on Amazon or Overstock and placed for sale on eBay. You find the products that are selling for less on other sites then list them for sale on eBay and have them shipped directly to the customer.

8. Digital products
Yes eBooks falls under the digital items but there are many digital items that sell on eBay. For example, did you know that you can sell digital photos, desktop backgrounds, ebay templates, and more?

9. Seasonal items
Buying seasonal items at year end & close out is an excellent way to generate some extra cash.  Everyday large chain stores close out items. When the summer items are closed out buy  them and save them till the beginning of the following summer & do the same for winter. We’ve purchased Name brand Dickies Shorts at Wal-Mart, for a dollar a pair on closeout, saved them and sold them the following summer for 10.00 dollars a pair. We purchased close out “Disney Hit Clips” for a buck a piece and sold them for 10.00  for a set of 3 that’s a 7 dollar profit. Wal Mart and other chain stores are always closing out products. You can even find clearance and closeouts online.

10. Sample items
Surprisingly enough Samples sell on eBay. If you or your spouse are a business traveler or you happen to get free sample from your place of employment or however you might come across them, samples sell. You can sign up on many websites to receive samples then offer them for sale on eBay. Every week we receive some free dog food, new sample grocery or some other product in the mail. My wife signed up and now the free items roll in.

Artists and designers love to make money with there work, and why not, you  get to display your creativity, and have fun while doing something you enjoy. It’s not always the easiest task putting your creativity to work for you, there is often a lot of competition in the field because it’s enjoyable work.

Many artists and designers perhaps do not realize that there is an entire customer base on eBay just waiting to pay them.

How to get started.
If you’ve a designer or wish to be a designer, and haven’t created professional logo graphics. I recommend that you study the art of logo design before starting your portfolio simply because logo design is quite different then other types of design. Studying professional corporate logo design works. Once you feel that you’ve sufficiently studied the subject and are proficient. It’s time to start creating your logo portfolio.
