Start a Firewood Business 400 Dollars a Day

firewoodThe Firewood Business High Profit Potential

I recently learned of a small business that has the ability of generating lots of money. When I say lots of money I mean in the neighborhood of 400-500 dollars a day during certain parts of the year. In many regions around the world wood is the main source of heat in the home.

I’m originally from California so buying or burning wood for heat was not a consideration. Living in the pacific north west on the other hand, most everyone depends on it as the only source of heat during the long winters.

A cord of wood depending on the type starts at around 100 dollars and goes up from there. Certain types of wood can cost more than 300 dollars a cord. These cords are in high demand, in fact many tree cutters have waiting lists in order to service all the demand.

Most individuals who depend on wood as their main supply of heat don’t usually don’t have the time or tools to cut their own. They buy it, and if your willing and able you can provide it, earning in excess of 100 dollars per hour.

What You’ll Need
Collection of hand saws
Chainsaw
Work Gloves
Truck
Axes, Malls
Heady duty work clothes, gloves and boots
It’s recommend to work with a partner in this business as the work requires more than one person in many cases. Logs can be quite heavy.

Where to get the wood

Mill Ends
There are many sources to obtain the wood you will need to supply your customers. First you can buy what are called mill ends from wood mills.  Purchasing 100.00 dollars worth of mill end when taken home and re-packaged into 200 small bundles can sell for aprox 1000.00 dollars.

Whole Logs
Depending on the area you live in, consider working with logging operations in the area. You may be surprised to find out how just how many there are in the local foot hills and mountains. Arrange loads of whole logs that are rejected as quality lumber. You can also work with the local forest department to gain access to logs. When working with the forest department you can purchase permits to either cut up already downed trees or in some cases thin areas of over growth.

Another option for gaining access to raw lumber is working with land owners and offering to thin out the land they live on or clear areas of down tree’s to make the land more accessible. In the case of working with land owners you’ll generally split the profits from the wood on the land.

If you’re a hard worker and rugged enough this business can provide a full time income. Just like food people need to stay warm.

As you build your business, stay in touch with your customers. In this business customers tend to be quite loyal. A one time sale can become a customer for life.

Post you’re services in on bulletin boards, ask for referrals from current customers, load your truck with a cord of wood and park in on a main street with your phone number on it. Work with chimney sweep services, wood burning stove and & fireplace sellers and others.

How I Lost Thousands of Visits From Search Engines – Simple Wordpress Mistake

How I Lost Thousands of Visits From Search Engines – Warning about 302 temporarily moved redirect.

This little & easily overlooked issue can cause lots of lost traffic and it’s an easy mistake to make.

The other day I spent several hours researching why I was getting a 302 redirect error on Pennyroll.com. A 302 is a redirect error that states the website or page has been moved temporarily. I wasn’t even aware there was a problem because to myself and anyone else that visits the website, it would appear to load normally. This is more of a problem when it comes to search engine traffic.

I found out I was getting this 302 redirect when I tried Google Web Master Tools “Fetch as Googlebot” It’s a little option that allows you to send the Google Spider to a website and see it as it sees it.Well when I received the data back instead of seeing the code for a page and it’s content I received the error 302 temporarily moved.Wordpress Address in General Settings

Here’s the simple problem and the fix. Under the general tab in any Wordpress admin area you have the option to set the home and the blog page address. Most of the time when I surf the web I simply type the address as “webaddress.com” I usually leave out the www portion of it, so when I added the home page address, I without even thinking about it put in “pennyroll.com” the http:// is automatically added so my homepage address was http://pennyroll.com and that’s how my website was indexed. Like I mentioned it really didn’t seem to matter as the website loaded correctly, but behind the scenes it would be redirecting to www.pennyroll.com to pennyroll.com

I recommend to anyone that has a website built on the Wordpress platform to double check this little setting because about a week after making the change, my search engine results have been noticeably increasing. However I caution anyone who is receiving a lot of search engine traffic from making the change because it could potentially decrease your traffic at least in the mid term because you’re site will essentially be re-indexed with what is essentially a new web address.

Save Money During the Holidays – Old Fashion Christmas

AMERICAN CYANAMID by George Eastman HouseSaving Money During the Holidays
If you’ve even seen the movie A Christmas Story then you know in those days they didn’t have to have five hundred dollars worth of misc stuff for each person under the tree.

The gift list was pretty simply a Red Rider BB Gun and a pink bunny pajama set would just about complete the list of course a few odds and ends but the movie accurately portrayed the era.

These days the Christmas spirit has been overwhelmed by commercialism and most parents feel they need to fill up the bottom of the Christmas Tree until the presents are flowing out from under it, around the corner and out the door. Everyone simply must have the new Wii, Xbox 360, Computers etc… It’s just too much and it costs too much.

If we could just get back to what the holiday season is truly about we would all enjoy it so much more. Instead it become a stress event where we seem to feel that we must max out the credit cards, spend all of our money buying more and more stuff we just don’t need.

What if this year we go back in time? What if this year instead of making the holiday season about stuff we make it about family & Friends, Giving of our time, visiting, and just simply enjoying this time of year? What can we do to make Christmas truly special this year and come out of it with our pocket books in tact.

Here’s several suggestions to save money and enjoy Christmas.
Make your own Christmas decoration with the kids, you can create a number of fun decorations with inexpensive art supplies, and things around the house. Every year we make it a point to head over to Michaels Art Supply Store and purchase a number of small plaster blank ornaments with little Santas, ornaments, Christmas trees, etc. these decorations run around .20-.50 cents a piece, with a two to four dollar painting set you can truly have hours and hours of fun with the family. Turn on the Christmas music to set the mood.
Christmas Craft Projects

McCall Magazine, Night Before Xmas by George Eastman HouseDuring the Holiday season, my brother always keep a collection of Christmas music playing softly in the background. With the Christmas tree set up and some coffee and hot chocolate for the kids, some casual conversation this can truly create a special Christmas feeling. If you have a fireplace make sure to start a nice little fire as well.

Offering hand made gifts is an excellent way, not only to save money but to create a lasting impression and true appreciation. If a person goes out of their way to create a special gift for another, it truly says something. Every year both my sister and my niece spend time creating gift packages of hand made candy. They make peanut brittle, chocolate covered toffee, peanut butter balls and more.

Whether you have the financial means, or you have some extra time, consider doing some volunteer work at the local shelter, or helping a needy family. The smallest things can help make a big difference in someones life. After all isn’t that what Christmas is all about?
Holiday Volunteering Ideas

If you enjoy cooking you may want to prepare a special meal for another as a gift. You could offer this as an open invitation for the future date. Give a coupon to a friend “This is good for one free meal at your home at the time of your choosing. Merry Christmas!

Sending a special hand made christmas card to your loved ones is a wonderful idea for the holiday season. For the same price as a hallmark card you could buy the art supplies you would need to send 5 hand made cards.
Handmade Christmas Cards

Gift baskets are another a wonderful gift that people truly enjoy, they can be filled with just about anything and many of those items can be hand made as well.

About the Christmas Tree
If you happen to live in an area surrounded with forest land many areas will allow you to cut down your own tree. In our area the fee is only 5 dollars. Imagine a day out with the family a long Sunday drive looking for that perfect tree. That evening you bring in the tree set it up with special hand made ornaments and perhaps stings of popcorn.

The main idea is to be sure and enjoy the season for the sake of the season, try not to get rapped up in the commercialism. Enjoy the family, friends, enjoy the crafts and cooking. Light some candles, decorate things and put your troubles aside.

Merry Christmas
