Apartment Cleaning is an excellent, extremely low cost, and fun business to get started.

When it comes to apartment complexes, tenets are always moving in and out. Leases expire, better deals come along, etc. Regardless of whether the previous tenets cleaned up or not, the apartment will still need to be professionally cleaned. Almost all apartments complexes hire out  these cleaning services.

What’s involved? Hard work & elbow grease and if you already enjoy cleaning then it can be fun at the same time.  You get to turn on the radio and go to work detailing the apartment.

The Cleaning Process
Apartment cleaning is usually a through process, a deep cleaning if you will. The, refrigerator, dish washer, stove are often pulled forward and cleaned inside and out. The tile or linoleum is scrubbed and polished. Removable windows are removed and cleaned. All surfaces are scrubbed and polished. Basically a deep detailed cleaning where no stone is left unturned.

Usually you will not be responsible for painting the apartment as it’s often hired out to a painting company. Cleaning the carpets is also hired out separately, but if you have the equipment and know how, you can certainly add that to your services as well. However, You will probably be too busy with your cleaning business to keep up with these additional services.

Payment Fee’s & Partners
This business is either paid per unit or per hour. Usually between 20-30 dollars per hour. It’s always better if you have a partner or assistant to work with, not only to help with the chore of cleaning but it also make the job more interesting having someone to talk to during the process. My mother and sister use to work together and it most certainly made the job much more fun and enjoyable. Not to mention if you have someone to work with you can spur each other on to get the job done faster.

Getting Started
In order to get started, simply get in contact with apartment managers, apartment owners, apartment rental agencies, and anyone else that has the ability to provide work. Network with carpet cleaning businesses and painting businesses to exchange leads. Create business cards and flyers to pass out.

Once you are proficient and have all of your supplies,  you can consider branching off into business office cleaning, maid services, as well as a number of other cleaning opportunities.
